Anonymous Society invites artists to submit work for In the Middle of It, a juried group exhibition exploring what it means to continue making work during a period of uncertainty and flux.

​

In the Middle of It brings together artists working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Rather than responding directly to current events, the exhibition acknowledges the shared condition of making work while living through instability, distraction, and change.

​

The exhibition centers persistence, attention, and commitment to practice. Selected works emphasize the act of continuing, of shaping meaning and material even when clarity feels elusive. Together, the works reflect how artists remain present through process, assembly, and sustained engagement with their work.

Eligibility

• Open to artists 18 years of age or older

• All media considered, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media

• All work must be original and created within the past three years

Submission Guidelines

• Images: Up to 5 images of work may be submitted

• Size Limit: Work must be no larger than 36 inches in any direction

• Title List: Include title, dimensions, medium, and year for each work

• Artist Statement: Up to 250 words, written in the first person

• Bio: Up to 150 words, written in the third person

• Presentation: All work must be exhibition ready with appropriate hanging or installation hardware. Work that is not exhibition ready will be returned at the artist’s expense

Artwork does not need to be for sale. Artists retain full responsibility for any sales inquiries that may arise.

Artists may choose one of the following submission options:

Gallery Open Call

$45 non refundable

• Consideration for the In the Middle of It exhibition only

• Juried selection for this specific gallery exhibition

This option is intended for artists applying solely to this exhibition.

Gallery Open Call and Feedback

$100 non refundable

• Consideration for the In the Middle of It exhibition

• Written curatorial feedback on submitted work

• Waived submission fee for Powered by Anonymous Society during the same review period

Feedback reflects the work submitted during this cycle and does not guarantee exhibition or placement.

Terms and Conditions

By submitting work, artists agree to the following:

• All submissions must meet the stated eligibility and application requirements. Incomplete or late submissions will not be reviewed.

• A non refundable submission fee of $45 or $100, depending on the selected option, is required prior to review.

• Artists retain full copyright and ownership of their work. Anonymous Society may use submitted images for promotional and documentation purposes related to programming, including online, print, and social media.

• Artwork does not need to be for sale. Any sales inquiries are the responsibility of the artist. Anonymous Society may facilitate connections when appropriate but does not act as a sales agent.

• Anonymous Society will handle artwork with care but is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage during shipping, handling, installation, or exhibition. Artists are strongly encouraged to insure their work independently.

• All shipping, delivery, return, packaging, and insurance costs are the responsibility of the artist.

• Selection is at the sole discretion of the Anonymous Society curatorial team. Submission does not guarantee exhibition or participation.

Submissions are reviewed for artistic quality, clarity of intent, alignment with the exhibition framework, and contribution to a cohesive group presentation.
